Three quarters of the county's dental offices employ fewer than ten people, and the Census records no large employer at all. That is a market of independent practices rather than one already consolidated behind a small number of operators.

National consolidation is running ahead of this market

The American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute reports that the share of dentists affiliated with a dental support organization more than doubled from 7.2% in 2015 to 16.1% in 2024, and names Texas among a group of states where roughly one quarter of dentists were DSO-affiliated by 2024. The same report records practice ownership falling from 85% of dentists in 2005 to 73% in 2023, concentrated among earlier-career dentists.
